20 years ago my mother took me to see a magic show on vacation. The show was one of the fist large scale Magic shows I had ever seen live. The day following the show I was crossing the street and I distinctly remember saying to my mother: "I want to be a professional Magician." This felt like a lofty goal for a budding magician not yet old enough to drive a car.
Returning home, I joined a monthly magic club. I participated in the club for several years, learning as much as I could and even began performing for an audience. My first professional show was a birthday party. The guest of honor wasn't much older than I was and my parents (who drove me) acted as my stage hands.
As the years progressed, my show developed and my talent progressed. I won awards, traveled the country, and appeared on stages I never would have imagined back when I was crossing that street all those years ago.
